The San Pedro Education Foundation turns community support into real opportunities for students across San Pedro public schools.
We work with educators and school leaders to help fund projects, programs and resources that respond to the needs of their students. Sometimes that means bringing a robotics program back to life. Sometimes it means replacing books lost in a flood, putting modern technology into a classroom, creating a garden where students can learn outdoors or helping launch a new athletic program.
The projects are different because the needs of each school are different. What connects them is a direct benefit to San Pedro students.
STEM & Technology
Bringing Robotics Back to Crestwood
After Crestwood Street STEAM Magnet’s robotics program went dark during COVID, local support helped bring hands-on robotics opportunities back to students.
A New Chapter in Robotics at POLAHS
SPEF support helped expand hands-on learning at Port of Los Angeles High School by adding robotics to a school already known for career pathways connected to the maritime industry.
Modern Classroom Technology at Taper and White Point
Smart boards give teachers and students more ways to interact with lessons, collaborate and bring classroom material to life. SPEF grants helped put this technology into classrooms at Taper Avenue Elementary and White Point Elementary.

From Concrete to Green at Barton Hill
A previously unused stretch of concrete at Barton Hill Elementary was transformed into a greener, more welcoming space for students.
Planting Seeds of Curiosity at Point Fermin
At Point Fermin Elementary, students gained a hands-on place to explore nature, growth and the world around them through a school garden project.

Supporting Girls Flag Football at San Pedro High School
When San Pedro High School launched its girls flag football program, SPEF helped support a new opportunity for students to compete, build confidence and represent their school.

Rebuilding Cabrillo’s Library After a Flood
When flooding destroyed Cabrillo Elementary’s early reading collection, SPEF helped the school rebuild so young students could once again have access to the books they needed.
What We Support
SPEF supports projects and programs across a wide range of educational priorities, including STEM, arts, entrepreneurship, health and wellness, workforce development, literacy, athletics, campus improvements and school project grants.
We do not believe every school needs the same thing. Our role is to listen to educators and school leaders, understand the opportunity in front of them and help connect strong ideas with the community resources needed to make them possible.
